Ever Clean have got a reasonably small range of litters on the market compared to other brands. However, despite this they have still managed to make their mark on the litter world and become a highly reputable brand known for providing great value products at a decent price point.

Today we’re going to take a look at Ever Clean and see what’s good (and what’s not so good) about their most popular products. We’re going to analyze and dissect real customer reviews to spot a few trends and commonalities between them, and we’re going to give you a list of pros and cons and our overall recommendation about the brand.

Let’s get started.

Different Types of Ever Clean Cat Litter

As usual, we’re going to be starting this article off with the product review section. We usually take a selection of the most popular litters on the market when we review a brand like this – but as Ever Clean have a small product range, these 5 litters are more or less all you’re going to find from them.

Ever Clean Extra Strength Unscented Premium Clumping Clay Cat Litter

The first product we’re going to talk about from Ever Clean today is arguably their most popular – it has certainly got the most reviews.

It’s a super strong clay litter that has an incredible clumping action considering the price point it’s being sold at. The clumps that form become rock solid when dried, they’re pretty large too which makes them heavy and helps to prevent tracking. The clumps do an excellent job of locking away smells until you’re ready to clean the tray.

Because it’s an unscented litter it needs some kind of way to kill the bacteria that create the ammonia smell that is universally hated among cat owners. Ever Clean have added an antimicrobial agent to the litter to solve this issue. From the moment your cat’s “business” hits the tray the litter gets to work and starts demolishing the bacteria – reducing the amount of smell that needs to be locked up by the clumps.

To provide long-lasting protection the litter also has natural plant extracts built into it to slightly mask the smell and neutralize the odors further. The combination of natural materials and lack of artificial scents make this a good choice for cats that are a little on the sensitive side.

As it’s 99% dust free, it’s also a great product if you’ve got a sensitive kitty (or a sensitive human) in the home too.

Ever Clean Everfresh with Activated Charcoal Unscented Premium Clumping Clay Cat Litter

This is another unscented litter that works around the principle of killing odor creating bacteria and neutralizing smells (instead of covering them up).

Like the product above there’s no artificial chemicals or other nastiness that’s going to cause issues for sensitive kitties. It’s not a particularly high dust product, but it’s not a low dust product either – so if you’ve got a little bit of problem with dusty reactions, this isn’t the product for you.

Again the clumping action on this product is strong. The clumps that form are large and heavy, so cleaning up is a breeze and tracking is prevented too. It has got the same antimicrobial agents as the product above, and the same (or at least very similar) plant extracts are added for neutralizing odors further.

The main difference between this product and the one we talked about first is that Ever Clean have decided to add a healthy amount of activated charcoal into the mix…

As you may know, activated charcoal (or activated carbon) is one of the most efficient natural filtration and odor killing materials that can be used in cat litter. It takes the already impressive properties of natural clay and enhances them further – ensuring that no smells can leak out of the tray.

The combination of the activated charcoal, the plant extracts, and the strong clumping action mean that this litter can stay fresh for up to 10 days before it starts to stink out your home.

Ever Clean Lightweight Unscented Extra Strength Cat Litter

Like all the products above, this is another unscented fragrance-free litter. There are a couple of other similarities too – it has got antimicrobial agents and plant extracts, and it has got the activated charcoal thrown in from the product above too.

The main difference between this product and the others is that it’s lightweight. A lightweight litter provides much more absorption pound for pound compared to normal litters. This makes it more economical, and it also makes it much easier to handle, pour, and clean too. It sounds like a trivial benefit – but once you’ve tried it, you’ll see just how much of an improvement it really is…

Again it’s going to provide you with up to 10 days of freshness before it starts to stink, and because it’s super absorbent – the clumping action is great too. From the moment your cat’s pee hits the litter, it’s going to start forming large strong clumps locking the smells away. The clumps are equally as hard and durable as the products above, and you’re not going to have them break apart on you when you’re cleaning out the tray.

It’s a low dust product, so it’s great for homes with sensitive cats, and the fragrance-free nature of the product combined with the size and quality of the granules mean that fussy cats should be pretty happy with it too.

Ever Clean Multi-Cat Clumping Cat Litter

This is the first product we’ve mentioned today that is suitable for multi-cat households. It’s a super efficient clay-based litter that provides excellent value for money if you’ve got more than one kitty in your home.

Again, it has got the same combination of plant agents and antimicrobial extracts as the products above – the main difference is that they’re present in much larger quantities here. The plant extract only releases a scent when your kitty swipes their paws in the litter after finishing their “business” in the tray. This means that despite the huge amount of power packed into this strong multi-cat formula, you’re not going to smell it all day long.

The clumping action is more or less the same as the other products too, which is a little bit of a let down considering this is a multi-cat product. However, despite this, it’s not really a problem – because all the products we’ve talked about today create strong and efficient clumps. It’s more than enough to handle the waste of multiple cats.

The one thing that’s potentially an issue with this product is the amount of dust.

We have no reason to believe that it’s a particularly dusty product, but the lack of information about dust on the packaging does set alarm bells ringing. Usually, if it’s a low dust product the manufacturer will talk about it on the packaging, but with this one – they don’t mention it at all…

It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s something to bear in mind.

Ever Clean Lightly Scented Extreme Clump Cat Litter

This litter has the same plant extracts and antimicrobial agents as the products above, but that’s where the similarities end.

The most obvious difference is that this is a scented product, which can sometimes make matters worse instead of better, and as such we’re not big fans of scented litter here (but many people are).

Cat pee smells bad, but cat pee mixed with cheap air freshener smells repugnant.

Luckily this is one of the better scented products on the market. We don’t think there’s anything special about the scent that makes the perfume work in this litter, it’s probably more to do with the antimicrobial agents and plant extracts minimizing the amount of smell that needs to be covered up in the first place. The scent itself is fresh and delicate, but it’s strong enough to mask the smell entirely.

Like all good cat litters that are scented, the scent is only released when your cat swipes their paws in the litter tray. This makes the infused scent last longer, it stops your home smelling like litter when the tray isn’t being used, and it also improves the concentration of perfume in the air when it’s needed.

It’s also got something called “Extreme Clumping Technology” inside of it, which the other litters on this page don’t seem to have.

To be honest we were not able to find much information on what this is or why it is better than their other products – because we certainly didn’t notice any difference.

That being said, it’s still an excellent litter in terms of clumping. The clumps form quickly, and lock away smells before they become a problem, they’re still strong and they’re unlikely to break apart when you’re cleaning out the tray. The size of the clumps means that they’re also quite heavy too – so it’s a low tracking product that won’t make it far out of the litter tray (unless you have a super long haired cat).

Ever Clean Cat Litter Coupons

Ever Clean’s products are already very well priced, and as such, they don’t really release coupons. The main way people get a discount on their products is by finding third-party retailers that have coupons and promotions that can be used on litter.

For example, at the moment Chewy.com are providing their clients with 30% off a wide range of products – which includes Ever Clean cat litter.

Ever Clean Cat Litter Reviews

So now we know a little bit about the Ever Clean brand and the products that they have on the market. But are they any good?

To answer that question, we’ve poured through countless online reviews (on various websites) to try and get an impartial opinion based on the thoughts of real customers. Here are a few common trends we noticed throughout their product range.

Odor Control – The combination of the antimicrobial agents and the plant extracts seem to work wonders for keeping smells under control. We read several glowing reviews of all of the products above in the odor control department. The products that have activated charcoal in them got special praise regularly, so if you don’t want a stinky home, try them first.

Clumping – The clumping action was widely regarded as being top quality, and we saw very few reviews that complained about it. The clumps were hard, never broke down, and they locked away the smell well (which ties in with the odor control point above).

Dust – One of the things we came across was something we already kind of expected and alluded to in the product review section above. A few of the products that don’t mention the amount of dust on the packaging can be a little bit of a problem for super sensitive humans and cats. It seemed to be quite a specific issue, and people without sensitivities didn’t seem to talk about it being a problem – but if you’ve got allergies, it’s worth bearing in mind.
